Job summary

Macy's, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Designer to begin their career on the Design Team. You will learn Macy's culture, brand aesthetics, and design principles while contributing to innovative merchandising and product development.

You will support the team with trend research, materials and color direction, and in-season design changes, collaborating across departments to meet deadlines and grow within Macy's.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field.
• Experience in retail or design internships preferred.
• Ability to access and review information and work with office systems.

Responsibilities

• Research category, trend, and customer preferences.
• Align design with Private Brand direction using materials, trims, colors, and patterns.
• Support the team in executing a strategic, customer-centric design vision.
• Prepare presentation materials and set up for design-led meetings.
• Contribute to in-season design changes and cross-functional collaboration.
• Summarize action points for the manager in meetings.
• Develop skills in flat mechanical sketches for development packs.
• Assist in creating and distributing tech packages and reviewing samples.
