Description

The Assistant Delivery Manager is responsible for all delivery, routing, compliance, scheduling, and communications for load supervisors at our Pompano Beach Warehouse. A total of 10-15 direct reports including a router and Delivery Compliance Specialist. The role develops, implements, and directs all distribution activities ensuring that performance targets are achieved and priorities are fully aligned with Baer's Furniture strategies.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for continual process improvement and employee development initiatives to promote an environment where employees are involved, empowered and committed to the success of the company by leveraging teams to reach their fullest potential and to increase productivity and efficiencies
• Develop a management bench that will support personnel development, hedge against management turnover, and support a 'promote from within' process
• Train and manage warehouse team to solve day to day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
• Ensure effective routing of delivery truck routes using Dispatch Track routing software, optimizing customer satisfaction with time-frame requests and special delivery requests.
• Ensure capacity levels remain sufficient to meet and exceed demand
• Must be able to work between multiple warehouse locations with a physical presence out of loading docks of either building; manager should strive for 60% of their time out on the floor with 40% office time
• Manage and address product routing issues, resolve 'on road' and store emergencies as necessary
• Report KPI and KPM metrics to staff and to upper management
• Ensure Baer's targets and exceeds a client first time delivery rate of 90% or greater while ensuring a piece completion percentage of 97% or greater, and a priority delivery completion of 85% or greater
• Ensure individual drivers and loaders do not exceed 1.5%- anything above is not up to standard
• Ensure all delivery has a 90% on time delivery percentages
• Responsible for working with fleet management to ensure good working order of delivery equipment including: Pups, demountable, chassis, truck, and tractors
• Must maintain strong working relationship to Baer's benefit will all 3PL and tech platforms
• Maintain 100% compliance with Baer's routing software and tracking systems
• Actively seek out quality control inspections for 'priority' (second or worse) deliveries to ensure through examinations and proper loading is completed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization
• Establish and maintain daily meetings with teams reviewing previous work day performance and production plan for the day
• Review daily and weekly payroll hours vs hours budget and ensure production goals are met
• Complete staff evaluations after 90-day probation period, after 6 months, and annual reviews in a timely manner
• Provide operational training to managers, new managers, and trainees
• Resolve any issues or problems that may arise in the warehouse operations, such as delays, damages, shortages, or errors
• Implement and enforce warehouse policies and procedures, adhering to local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Keep the staff informed of current events and provide updates on department and company initiatives by conducting frequent team meetings
• Connect with all partners within the supply chain - delivery, inventory control, stores, merchandising, HR, LP and others as required to support an efficient operation
