Job summary

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's School of Nursing seeks an Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs to provide executive oversight and strategic leadership of Traditional BS, Accelerated BS, and RN-BS tracks. The role emphasizes student success, accreditation readiness, and alignment with university priorities.

The Assistant Dean works with the Dean and department chairs to drive curriculum quality, outcomes improvement, and comprehensive reporting while fostering collaboration

Qualifications

• Earned PhD, DNP, or equivalent doctoral degree (preferably in nursing).
• Eligible for faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and leadership in undergraduate nursing.
• Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in Illinois and Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Oversees undergraduate nursing programs including Traditional BS, Accelerated BS, and RN-BS.
• Oversees curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement across undergraduate programs.
• Ensures accreditation standards and leads program reporting processes.
• Annually updates undergraduate program materials, including student handbooks and university catalog content.
• Monitors program outcomes (NCLEX pass rates, retention, progression) and implements data-driven improvement strategies.
• Oversees implementation of student policies and undergraduate committee recommendations.
• Prepares annual undergraduate reports and provides data for accreditation and institutional reporting.
• Provides supervisory direction to support staff for undergraduate programs.
• Provides collaborative and visionary leadership that promotes collegiality and continuous improvement.
