Alice L. Walton School of Medicine (AWSOM) is seeking an experienced leader to design and deliver an innovative four‑year curriculum for medical students in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The Assistant Dean, Foundational Sciences will oversee ARCHES pre-clerkship content, oversee high-stakes testing, and drive integration with clerkships while aligning with LCME standards. The role reports to the Associate Dean, Curricular Affairs and requires collaboration across departments, faculty development, and

Qualifications

• MD/DO/PhD or equivalent credentials required.
• Minimum 5+ years as educator and scholar in an LCME-accredited medical school.
• Experience as Course Director or similar leadership role preferred.
• Expertise in curriculum design, development, assessment, and curriculum mapping.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee pre-clerkship curriculum design and assessment within ARCHES.
• Lead faculty development and performance evaluation initiatives.
• Coordinate integration of foundational sciences across ARCHES phases.
• Ensure compliance with LCME and relevant accrediting requirements.
• Contribute to accreditation/re-accreditation processes and documentation.
• Participate in AWSOM Curriculum Committee and subcommittees.
• Support recruitment, hiring, and development of teaching faculty and staff.
• Assist in strategic planning and budgeting for the foundational sciences program.
