Job summary

Harvard University’s Divinity School seeks an Assistant Dean for Ministry Studies and Chaplaincy Education to lead its Clinical Pastoral Education program. You will design, implement, and oversee the curriculum, accreditation, and partnerships, guiding CPE students and educators across settings.

You will collaborate with the OMS team, supervise adjunct educators, and help students explore chaplaincy vocations through rigorous clinical formation, assessment, and continuous program improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience.
• ACPE Certified Educator in good standing required.
• Experience in CPE education and program leadership (curriculum, assessment, accreditation).
• Ability to educate and supervise students from diverse traditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, launch, administration, and continuous improvement of the CPE program, including its educational model, curriculum, policies, assessment practices, and administrative systems.
• Lead ACPE accreditation and compliance with educational and professional standards.
• Teach and supervise CPE students, serving as primary educator for up to three CPE units annually, based on enrollment and staffing.
• Recruit, orient, supervise, support, and evaluate adjunct or contract CPE educators leading additional cohorts.
• Develop and sustain clinical education partnerships across hospitals, hospices, educational institutions, correctional settings, congregations, community organizations, and social-service agencies.
