Job summary

The University of Georgia seeks an Assistant Dean for Education to serve as the Ivester School of Nursing's academic leader for educational programs and clinical track faculty. This position reports to the Dean and drives strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of degree programs to ensure quality and impact.

Qualifications

• Track record of successful faculty recruitment, mentorship, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for educational programs and clinical track faculty.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate all degree programs for continued quality and outcomes.
• Collaborate with the Dean to advance the school's educational mission and nursing workforce development.

Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for Education serves as the Ivester School of Nursing's academic leader for educational programs and clinical track faculty, reporting directly to the Dean. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for the development, implementation, systematic evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of all degree programs. The Assistant Dean for Education is a key partner to the Dean in advancing the school's educational mission and its commitment to developing a highly prepared nursing workforce for Georgia and beyond.

Additional Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Current or eligibility for registered nurse licensure in the state of Georgia.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in nursing education, including demonstrated leadership in curriculum development, program evaluation, and faculty management.
• Demonstrated evidence of nursing accreditation processes ( CCNE or ACEN ) and familiarity with Georgia Board of Nursing regulatory requirements.
• Track record of successful faculty and instructor recruitment, mentorship, and evaluation.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated leadership in preparing for and successfully completing a CCNE or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing ( ACEN ) accreditation self-study or site visit.
• Bachelor of Science ( BSN ) program development leadership in an R1 or research-intensive university environment.
• Familiarity with NCLEX -RN Next Generation ( NGN ) examination design and corresponding pedagogical strategies.
• Active participation in national nursing education organizations ( AACN , NLN , STTI , or equivalent).
• Track record of working in a school or program within a large, public research university system.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

• Strategic and systems-level thinking about nursing education in a dynamic regulatory and accreditation environment.
• Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with faculty, staff, students, clinical partners, and accrediting bodies.
