Job summary

Boston University’s College of Engineering seeks an Assistant Dean for External Relations to advance visibility, reputation, and external partnerships. Reporting to the Dean and serving on the leadership team, this role provides strategic leadership across brand, student outcomes, employer engagement, and alumni activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field required.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of an integrated external affairs strategy across marketing, communications, student career development, employer engagement, and alumni activities.
• Oversee the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Career Development Office to align messaging and programs.
• Partner with academic and administrative leaders to ensure external efforts support college priorities and resources.
• Set goals, priorities, and success measures for external affairs with regular reviews and data-driven decision making.
• Engage alumni and employers to expand opportunities for students and strengthen the college’s reputation.
