Job summary

The Learning Experience Corp. in Columbia, SC is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Infant through Preschool classrooms.

The role supports Lead Teachers to create safe, engaging, and nurturing environments, helping children learn, explore, and build confidence throughout daily activities. The position requires Monday–Friday availability, with shift options, and pays starting at $15-$16 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children is preferred but not required.
• Must obtain (or be willing to obtain) First Aid/CPR certification.
• Must obtain (or be willing to obtain) South Carolina Health & Safety Certification (free 15-hour) before orientation.
• Must have a patient, positive, and energetic attitude.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers in implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Assist with daily routines, including meals, diapering, toileting, and transitions.
• Encourage positive social, emotional, and developmental growth.
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and fellow team members.
• Observe and share developmental milestones and classroom observations.
• Foster a positive, collaborative atmosphere throughout the center.

Location: The Learning Experience, Columbia

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM (full availability required)

Pay: Starting at $15 - $16 per hour, based on experience

As an Assistant Teacher, you'll work alongside Lead Teachers to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and build confidence. Whether you're comforting an infant, encouraging a toddler's curiosity, or helping preschoolers prepare for their next steps, you'll play an important role in each child's growth and development.

• Availability to work M-F 9:00 AM–6:00 PM required
• Early Childhood Education coursework or related education is a plus
