Job summary

Atwell, LLC, a leader in consulting, engineering, and construction services, seeks an Assistant Crew Chief to support the survey Crew Chief on field activities in Port Charlotte, FL. You will operate and maintain survey equipment, set up on site, and perform a range of survey tasks from leveling to boundary surveys, following Atwell SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 3–5 years of survey field technician experience.
• Basic plan and map reading from construction/engineering plans and surveys.
• Experience with robotic total stations, GPS, data collectors, UAVs; Trimble preferred.
• UAV surveys and point cloud data processing preferred; knowledge of DJI Matrice 350 RTK, Phantom 4 RTI, Wingtra desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain survey equipment safely and efficiently.
• Stock and keep the vehicle clean.
• Assemble and set up equipment to start survey activities on site.
• Perform leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-builts, boundaries, profiles.
• Record field notes legibly following SOP.

Job Description

The Assistant Crew Chief is a developmental position that assists the survey Crew Chief by conducting field activities under direct supervision.

• Operates and maintains a variety of survey equipment safely and efficiently.
• Stock and help maintain a clean vehicle.
• Assist in prompt start to survey activities at project site by assembling and setting up necessary equipment.
• Perform survey activities such as: leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, profile, and cross section surveys.
• Record field notes legibly and accurately while following the Atwell established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
• A valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle is required.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a Survey Field Technician
• Basic plan and map reading (i.e., construction/engineering plans, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, plats, etc.)
• Typical survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS systems, data collectors, UAVs, etc. Experience with Trimble brand preferred.
• Proficiency in conducting UAV surveys and processing point cloud data is preferred. Knowledge of drones such as the DJI Matrice 350 RTI, Phantom 4 RTI and Wingra with LiDAR and photogrammetry payloads is desirable.
