The successful candidate will assist the County Attorney and Deputy County Attorneys in providing a wide range of legal services to the Board of Supervisors, the School Board, constitutional officers, the Pamunkey Regional Library, and County departments, boards, and agencies. An Assistant County Attorney I assists the County Attorney, Deputy County attorneys and Senior Assistant County Attorneys in providing a wide range of legal services to the Board of Supervisors; School Board; school administration county departments, boards and commissions, constitutional officers; and the regional library.
The Assistant County Attorney I reports to the County Attorney and the Deputy County Attorneys. This attorney will work under the direct supervision of senior level attorneys in the office to perform a wide variety of legal tasks for a number of different clients.

Effective legal research and writing skills; ability to organize, interpret and apply legal principles and knowledge to complex legal problems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials and the general public; good professional judgment.
Strong academic background; Graduation from an accredited school of law and one year or equivalent intern experience required. Must be a member in good standing of the Virginia State Bar or be eligible for admission within two (2) months.

Assistant County Attorney I - Base Salary - $80,783.00
Assistant County Attorney II - Base Salary -$88, 695.00
Assistant County Attorney III - Base Salary- $104,661.00
