The Peggy Browning Fund seeks an Assistant Counsel/National Field Representative to work with the NTEU in California. An Assistant Counsel/National Field Representative position is available in the National Treasury Employees Union's (NTEU) Oakland Field Office. The position offers a generous benefits package and a starting salary range of approximately $80,000 – $210,000, depending on relevant experience. Successful performance may lead to additional salary increases over time. While travel is required, NTEU provides workplace flexibilities such as telework.
Job Responsibilities: The Assistant Counsel acts as a liaison between NTEU local chapters and headquarters. Duties include representing NTEU and employees in arbitration and administrative forums such as the EEOC, MSPB, and FLRA. The role involves working with chapters to build membership and improve operations, conducting training, and recruiting members. Candidates should have experience in preparing and presenting cases, legal writing, designing internal organizing campaigns, participating in election campaigns, and working with unions or organizations to enhance membership and operations. Leadership capabilities are essential.
Work Environment: The selected candidate will be assigned to specific geographic locations within California where NTEU chapters serve federal employees across various agencies. The role requires working independently, analyzing cases for potential litigation, managing a significant caseload, and collaborating closely with chapters to promote membership growth and maintain workplace dignity and respect.
