Oliver James Associates Ltd. represents a top Real Estate Asset Manager seeking an Assistant Controller for a hybrid role in downtown Chicago. The position oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual closes with ownership of journal entries and investor onboarding.

It also drives reporting, tax coordination, and client service initiatives. The candidate should bring 6+ years in real estate accounting, a bachelor's in accounting, and strong communication and problem-solving skills; CPA is preferred

• 6+ years of accounting experience with a strong real estate background.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• CPA strongly preferred or willingness to pursue.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closes.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Review and record admittance of new investors.
• Coordinate quarterly/annual reporting and tax requirements.
• Execute cash transactions (subscriptions, distributions, invoices, fees).
• Review property management financial statements.
• Conduct quarterly financial analysis and calculate performance returns.
• Coach and manage junior team members.
• Respond to client inquiries and support client service.
• Improve reporting processes and lead special projects.
