Abacus Group is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Manhattan, NY office. The role focuses on preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, overseeing close processes, and supporting external audits while ensuring US GAAP compliance across entities.

Featuring a hybrid office arrangement, the position requires 5–8 years of corporate accounting, public company experience, and SOX knowledge. CPA is preferred and management experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of corporate accounting experience.
• Public company experience required.
• Knowledge of SOX required.
• Experience with accounting for tangible products is preferred.
• Management experience is a plus.
• CPA is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly operating company-level financial statements.
• Compile and review quarterly management reporting packages, including 10-Q and annual 10-K support schedules.
• Post and validate monthly general ledger journal entries and supporting documentation.
• Enhance accounting processes and reporting packages while developing, documenting, and executing internal controls.
• Partner with FP&A to provide operating details, management reporting, and forecast support.
• Coordinate with external auditors to support quarterly reviews and annual audits.
• Oversee balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of variances.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies across operating entities.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including calendars and deliverables.
• Travel to Montreal and Miami facilities as required (2-3 days per month).
