Assistant Controller (P&C Insurance)
Hybrid in Central Florida…Relocation assistance available
Must have a CPA or be on CPA track to be considered

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a well-established Property & Casualty insurance carrier in Central Florida.
The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in statutory accounting and reporting, proven supervisory experience, and an active CPA license. You will oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, manage reporting to the Department of Insurance (DOI) and NAIC, and play a key role in financial controls, audits, and continuous process improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance and financial close processes

Manage statutory reporting including NAIC filings, Yellow Book preparation, and premium tax filings

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Lead and coordinate audit preparation and interactions with external auditors

Drive improvements in processes, workflows, and financial controls

Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance ERP systems and reporting tools

Analyze financial statements and perform P&L variance analysis

Provide oversight of policyholder and billing systems to ensure financial accuracy

Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes

Mentor and supervise accounting staff

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Active CPA designation

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

5+ years of progressive accounting experience in the P&C insurance industry

Strong experience with statutory accounting principles (SAP)

Prior supervisory or team leadership experience

Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
