Job summary

CLA is seeking an Assistant Controller for our Nonprofit Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice. Responsibilities include managing accounting functions for clients, advising on best practices, and handling multiple projects with deadlines across specified MA locations.

Strong nonprofit accounting experience and GAAP knowledge are preferred. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and 6+ years in accounting/finance, with proficiency in major accounting software.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience.
• Experience in nonprofit industry is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required; combination of experience and training considered.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client’s accounting services team for multiple clients.
• Serve as a consultant and advisor on best practices for accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management by handling multiple clients, work streams, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards.
