Job summary

Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a PE-backed healthcare organization to identify an Assistant Controller. This hands-on accounting leadership role oversees day-to-day finance operations across multiple locations, working closely with the Controller to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
• Five+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial statement preparation.
• Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP and established accounting policies.
• Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and ongoing financial reporting.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls while supporting regulatory compliance and the annual audit process.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff, providing day-to-day direction, training, and support to ensure an effective and accountable accounting function.
