Job summary

Applied Industrial Technologies seeks a seasoned Assistant Controller to lead multi-branch accounting operations and ensure GAAP compliance across the organization. You will oversee month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls while partnering with executives to drive financial strategy.

Reporting to Corporate Controller, you will coordinate audits, manage budgets, and implement process improvements across locations, providing timely data for decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Experience in a multi-location, decentralized or branch-based environment.
• Experience with publicly traded companies or SOX compliance.
• Proven supervisory or accounting leadership experience.
• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations for a multi-branch division, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial information.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across multiple locations; maintain close schedules and reporting deadlines.
• Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and period-end adjustments.
• Coordinate internal and external audits; respond to audit requests.
• Drive process improvements to close-cycle efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Provide financial insights and variance analyses to leadership to support decision-making.
