Job summary

Amsted Rail Company in Kansas City is seeking an accounting professional to join the controller’s group. The role offers a challenging and varied scope, including month end, reporting, inventory transactions, and payroll support.

You will prepare internal reports, analyze daily shipments and inventory movements, and contribute to budget and variance analysis. A BA/BS in accounting or finance and strong Excel skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related study.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, team building, written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential information.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in month end preparation, analysis and reporting.
• Prepare internal business unit reports including daily shipments and product sales.
• Review daily inventory movements; weekly and monthly expense reporting.
• Report capital and major repair projects; prepare ad hoc reports and variance analysis.
• Collect and report daily production numbers and daily material usage.
• Oversee payroll preparation.
