RogueSearch seeks an Assistant Controller for a high-visibility finance role with exposure to operations and leadership. You will partner with senior finance to strengthen financial reporting, budgeting, and business partnering within a fast-growing division.

The role emphasizes GAAP knowledge, internal controls, and the opportunity to advance toward Controller or Director roles while impacting local community homebuilding projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA (or actively pursuing) preferred but not required.
• 3–10 years of experience, ideally in public accounting or corporate accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting controls.
• Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support oversight of the accounting function, including accounts payable, subcontractor payables, payroll, receivables, job cost accounting, and general ledger activities.
• Ensure financial reporting and accounting practices comply with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and corporate leadership.
• Support development of annual operating budgets, housing budgets, capital budgets, land development budgets, and cash flow projections.
• Partner with leadership to analyze budget vs. actual performance and assist with financial forecasting and profitability analysis.
• Assist in the preparation and review of tax filings, including personal property, sales and use, and real estate tax returns.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and assisting with audit processes.
• Help design and maintain accounting procedures that strengthen financial controls and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure consistent cost coding and general ledger accounting practices.
