Job summary

the COOL company seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting as the organization scales. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee day-to-day operations, support the monthly close, and strengthen controls across multiple entities and currencies.

The role requires strong US GAAP expertise, a hands-on leadership style, and comfort working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, incl. senior roles.
• CPA preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience with multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting.
• Startup/high-growth environment experience.
• Proven leadership of accounting/finance teams.
• Experience leading monthly close and consolidated reporting.
• Strong financial controls, audit requirements, and policies.
• Ability to support FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Excellent Excel and data-analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and support timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements per US GAAP.
• Oversee accounting across multiple entities, business units, and currencies.
• Manage multi-entity consolidation and FX accounting, incl. remeasurement and translation.
• Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and close activities.
• Oversee revenue recognition, AR, AP, fixed assets, and other core functions.
• Support accounting for new, unusual, or complex transactions.
• Maintain chart of accounts, policies, and close procedures.
• Support annual audit and tax with external advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls for a growing org.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting/finance team.
