Job Summary

The primary objective of the Assistant Controller – Foundations isto provide supervision of the day-to-day financial operations ofmultiple nonprofit foundations supported by Foundation Accountingwhile assisting each entity in carrying out their mission. Thisposition will be responsible for completing/overseeing preparationof internal and audited financial statements and other financialreports, monitoring and managing all aspects of the general ledgerto ensure accuracy as well as the completion of timelyreconciliations, reviewing or providing periodic, or as needed,analysis and variances, coordinating or assisting with the budgetprocess, managing general accounting, accounts payable, andfinancial analysis, ensuring Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples are followed and researching accounting issues forcompliance, making decisions related to/assisting with thedevelopment of processes and procedures, assisting withcoordinating audits and serving as a liaison with externalauditors, and serving as back-up to the CFO – Foundations.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting, business or related field froman accredited college or university is required. A bachelor’sdegree in a related field with equivalent experience to a master’sdegree may be substituted.
• Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accountingprinciples and practices.
• Considerable knowledge with financial reporting software.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare, assemble, review and analyzecomplex financial data.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and interpretadministrative policies and procedures.
• Considerable progressively responsible experience in accountingor finance including recent experience as an Assistant Controller,or related position, and supervisory experience.
• Considerable supervisory experience including demonstratedability to lead and direct the work of others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable not-for-profit accounting experience.
• Considerable experience with MIP Fund Accounting or other fundaccounting software.
• Current CPA certification preferred, other relevantcertifications accepted.
• Some knowledge of commercial property accountingpreferred.
