Job summary

Mindful Support Services in Mountlake Terrace, WA, is seeking an Assistant Controller to partner with the Controller and lead accounting operations, monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls for a growing multi-state organization.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, technology-driven automation and AI-enabled solutions while maintaining strong governance, accuracy, and timely insights for executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including monthly close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, technical accounting, and internal controls.
• Two or more years of experience supervising accounting staff, reviewing the work of others, or leading accounting projects and processes.
• CPA license or active progress toward licensure is preferred but not required.
• Experience in healthcare or another regulated and transaction-intensive industry is preferred.
• Experience with ERP accounting software such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring activities are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, consolidations, and financial statement work papers.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, variance analyses, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting.
• Manage financial audit and tax planning and compliance for a multi-state organization.
• Research and evaluate technical accounting matters and complex transactions under U.S. GAAP, with clear documentation.
