Job summary

Teck Alaska seeks an Assistant Controller to provide financial leadership across reporting, controls, budgeting, and operational finance in our Anchorage office. The role supports period-end closes, SOX compliance, audits, and governance processes, reporting to the Controller.

The position emphasizes partnership with compliance teams, development of budgets and 3YP processes, and delivering timely financial information for senior leaders and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration or related field.
• CPA designation or active pursuit required, licensure within six months of starting.
• Four years of progressive accounting or finance experience including financial reporting and budgeting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling; Power BI is a plus.
• Ability to analyze complex financial information and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of internal and external financial reporting in line with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with period-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate SOX compliance activities and audit readiness with stakeholders.
• Support internal and external audit activities and provide necessary documentation.
• Maintain finance reporting calendars, close checklists, and governance processes.
