Job summary

Aleut Mechanical - AMPH is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, construction job costing, and contract administration. This full-time, exempt role in Fairbanks, AK reports to the Controller & President and offers a competitive salary between $85k-$95k DOE.

The position emphasizes accuracy, internal controls, and collaboration with project management, operations, and accounting teams to manage billing, change orders, and project costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Two years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with construction contracts, subcontractors, retainage, change orders, and project billing.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain general ledger and ensure proper classification of transactions.
• Prepare reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.
• Assist with contract administration including subcontract, COI, and certified payroll management.
