National Tank & Equipment (NTE) is hiring an Assistant Business Controller to support the Controller in managing financial operations. The role oversees accounting activities, ensures GAAP-compliant reporting, and maintains strong internal controls.

You will drive month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and collaboration with auditors and leaders to enable informed decision-making.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in asset-intensive environments such as commercial equipment rental or construction.
• 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing day-to-day accounting functions.
• CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and chart of accounts maintenance.
• Lead day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable and close processes.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; prepare budget-to-actual reports.
• Coordinate with internal controls and external auditors; support audit readiness.

Mission

As our Assistant Business Controller, your mission is to support the Controller in managing the organization’s financial operations. You will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, support accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and provide financial insight that supports operational and strategic decision‑making.

What You Will Do

• Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.
• Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data and reporting in accordance with GAAP.

Accounting Operations

• Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintenance of the chart of accounts.
• Lead and supervise day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and general accounting operations.
• Ensure timely and accurate closing processes for all reporting periods.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in the development, review, and evaluation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Prepare and analyze budget-to-actual reports on a periodic basis.
• Investigate cost variances and provide detailed explanations for deviations from budgets or forecasts.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Help design, implement, and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal accounting policies.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting procedures and control frameworks.

Audit Coordination & Collaboration

• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors and prepare required audit schedules and documentation.
• Assist in resolving audit findings and implementing recommendations as needed.
• Work closely with the finance team and department leaders to streamline financial processes and support organizational priorities.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a commercial equipment rental, construction, industrial services, or asset-intensive environment.
• 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing day-to-day accounting functions.
• CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
• Demonstrated experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger management, account reconciliations, and close processes.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and asset tracking.
• Hands‑on experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, external audits, and internal controls.
• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.

Job Location

This position is based at an NTE Branch Location and works in a professional office environment. The role is primarily sedentary, involves frequent computer and telephone use, and may occasionally require lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
