Reporting directly to the Head of the Family Office, this individual will play a critical role in managing the financial operations, reporting, banking, investment administration, and other business needs of the office.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a high-trust, highly confidential environment and wants exposure to a broad range of financial activities beyond traditional corporate accounting. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, sound judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work discreetly and independently. Growth potential available upon performance.

The Opportunity

The Assistant Controller will serve as a key member of the team, partnering closely with the principals of the firm. This role offers significant variety and visibility, with responsibilities spanning accounting operations, financial reporting, banking and investment accounts, document review, and special projects. The successful candidate will be someone who is naturally curious, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable operating with a high degree of trust and confidentiality. While accounting expertise is essential, equally important is the ability to understand the broader business and financial picture and anticipate what needs to happen next.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Manage accounts payable activities, including check preparation, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
  • Record and review general ledger activity and ensure transactions are accurately and appropriately documented.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of checking, investment, credit card, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records while ensuring a high level of attention to detail.

  • Assist with the opening and administration of banking and investment accounts.
  • Coordinate appropriate account access for authorized individuals.
  • Support the ongoing administration and organization of financial and investment relationships.

  • Work closely with the executive team on a variety of financial and administrative matters.
  • Assist with special projects and other initiatives as they arise.
  • Handle sensitive financial and personal information with the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 4-5 years minimum of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a complex or highly personalized financial environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • A proactive, service-oriented mindset and willingness to take ownership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small, highly trusted team.
Preferred Experience
  • Tax experience is a plus.
  • Partnership accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience working within a family office, private equity, investment management, or other sophisticated financial environment is highly valued.
