Job summary

CFS is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead accounting across a growing real estate portfolio. The role will oversee staff, prepare monthly financial statements for multiple properties, and advise property management teams on financial matters.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite; 2 days onsite after 6 months, a competitive benefits package, and opportunities to work closely with the Controller and finance leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Real estate accounting experience preferred.
• Strong managerial and supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred; Master’s degree a plus.
• Knowledge of Yardi or similar accounting systems.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting staff including hiring, training, development, and performance management.
• Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple properties.
• Advise accounting and property management teams on financial and accounting matters.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts.
• Ensure timely completion and review of general ledger analysis and bank reconciliations.
• Perform financial and budget analysis.
• Assist with development of annual property and corporate budgets.
• Support the Controller with day-to-day accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.
