Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Assistant Controller in Long Beach, CA to lead monthly close, manage program finance, and oversee inventory and cost accounting for a manufacturing business with space/defense exposure. You will ensure SOX compliance, drive ERP improvements, and mentor accounting staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly and year-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and GAAP reports with AP/AR/payroll oversight.
• Own program finance: review EACs, revenue recognition timing, project billing, and flag issues to PMs and Finance Director.
• Reconcile project cost ledgers, assist PMs to resolve AR, oversee inventory accounting with operations and supply chain.
• Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance, support audits, drive ERP/process improvements, supervise staff.

Job Details

• Manage the monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliation reviews, and GAAP financial statements, with oversight of AP, AR, and payroll as needed
• Own program finance: review EACs against budgets, determine revenue recognition timing, support project billing, and flag performance issues to PMs and the Finance Director
• Participate in project reviews, reconcile project cost ledgers to the accounting system, and work with PMs to resolve outstanding AR
• Oversee inventory accounting and manufacturing cost activity in partnership with operations and supply chain
• Maintain internal controls and SOX compliance, support audits, drive ERP and process improvements, and supervise and mentor accounting staff

Looking for:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including required manufacturing experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge, ERP proficiency, and strong Excel and reporting skills

Experience in any of the following areas welcomed:

• FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit requirements
• EAC reviews and program financial management
• SOX and public-company reporting
• ERP enhancements and automation
• Inventory and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
• Aerospace, defense, or other long-cycle contract environments
