Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Assistant Controller in Livonia, MI to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of consolidated financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries. The role includes participating in ERP software implementations and training accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Post journal entries and assist in monthly consolidated financial statements.

• Review internal accounting policies and identify improvement opportunities.
• Resolve accounting and customer collections issues.
• Ensure accuracy of vendor invoices and timely payments.
• Assist staff in resolving errors.
• Analyze monthly results vs. budget and explain variances.
• Coordinate with external auditors for audits and annual review.
• Produce required financial, governmental, and tax reports.
• Handle special projects as assigned by Corporate Controller.

Job Details

• Post journal entries and assist in the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for the corporation and its subsidiaries
• Prepare account reconciliations to ensure general ledger accuracy and make corrections if necessary
• Actively participate in the implementation of new accounting and ERP software and train members of the accounting team
• Review internal accounting policies and identify opportunities for improvement
• Recognize and resolve accounting and customer collections issues
• Ensure accuracy of vendor invoices and appropriate payment per terms
• Assist members of the accounting department in resolving errors
• Analyze monthly operating results in comparison to budget, identify and explain variances
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of audits and annual review
• Responsible for all required financial, governmental, and tax reports
• Other special projects as requested by the Corporate Controller

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems (experience with Epicor CMS a plus)
• Knowledgeable in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Meticulous with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
• Operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
