Job summary

ZIM Aircraft Seating Group in Greensboro, NC is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead daily accounting operations, maintain the general ledger, and ensure US GAAP/IFRS compliance. This role will supervise staff, support month-end close, monitor job costing and inventory valuation, strengthen internal controls, and collaborate with other departments to support planning and decision making.

A BA/BS in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of five years' accounting or financial analysis experience

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years general accounting or financial analysis experience.
• CPA or post-graduate finance degree a plus but not required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft software applications.
• Ability to present to stakeholders in writing and verbally.
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with timely month-end close processes and forecasting cycles.
• Support day-to-day accounting operations (A/R, A/P, payroll, cash management).
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Verify accuracy of job costs and reconcile subledgers to the GL (A/P, A/R, cash).
• Prepare schedules for external year-end audit and inventory oversight.
• Support treasury activities within banking platforms.
• Ensure compliance with applicable state and local taxes.
• Monitor internal controls and enforce accounting policies.

An Assistant Controller is responsible for the daily accounting operations, general ledger maintenance, and ensuring US GAAP/IFRS compliance. In addition, the role will supervise staff, support month-end close, monitor job costing/inventory valuation, maintain internal controls and assist in regulatory compliance.

• Assist with the timely financial close process and support of the periodic forecast/budget cycles
• Support the day-to-day operations of the accounting teamAccounts Receivable
• Accounts Payable
• Payroll
• Cash Management
• Provide direction and oversight to all aspects of the general ledger, including analysis, reconciliations, and journal entriesManage the general ledger and ensure proper coding of transactions
• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
• Verify the accuracy of all job costs as well as the reconciliation of all subledgers to the general ledger (A/P, A/R, cash management, equipment, payroll)
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external year-end audit, including annual Physical Inventory oversight
• Support Treasury functions within banking platforms
• Ensure compliance with applicable state, and local tax filings (sales & use tax, real and personal property taxes, and 1099)
• Monitor and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures
• Monitor and develop internal controls to minimize financial risk and identify areas of opportunity to better safeguard assets
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and support decision-making processes
• Manage and perform other duties consistent with the role of accounting professional

Secondary Duties:

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum:

• BA/BS Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or with strong relevant experience. CPA or post graduate finance degree a plus but not required.
• Minimum five years general accounting or financial analysis experience (preferably in a manufacturing company environment).
• Strong analytical and interpretation skills
• Proven ability to manage individuals to provide robust data and maintain reporting timelines
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft software applications
• Individual should be a self-starter requiring minimum supervision and able to work to deliver on schedule
• Ability to coherently present to stakeholders in written form and verbally
• Inquisitive mindset looking for continuous improvement and confidence promoting change
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language

Physical Requirements:

• Normal office environment where approximately 80% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office and manufacturing areas.
• Duties require normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations.
• Normal duties involve typical office duties that consist of stretching, reaching, and stooping with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum
• Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
• Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas for meetings and other functions.
