Job summary

Unity Search Group has partnered with a DFW-based, PE-backed distribution company in its search for an Assistant Controller. This person will work hand in hand with the VP of Accounting & the CFO to perform all accounting and reporting functions for the firm.

This person must have a CPA license, 8-15 years corporate accounting with demonstrated strong full cycle accounting, leadership, and transformation experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• CPA license and senior-level accounting experience required.
• 8–15 years of corporate accounting with strong full-cycle accounting.
• Demonstrated leadership and transformation experience in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger end to end, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Supervise Senior Accountants and Accounting Managers across daily and month-end tasks.
• Coach and develop accounting staff to build a high-performing culture.
• Analyze financial data for trends and variances and provide insights for business decisions.
• Identify and implement process improvements across finance and accounting.

This person will work hand in hand with the VP of Accounting & the CFO to perform all accounting and reporting functions for the firm. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Own the general ledger end to end, including controls and oversight for journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and related ledger activities.
• Manage a group of Senior Accountants and Accounting Managers across daily and month-end activities, making sure work meets GAAP standards
• Coach and support accounting team members, building a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Examine financial data for trends and variances, and translate findings into insights that inform business decisions.
• Consistently identify opportunities to streamline processes across finance and accounting.
