Job summary

TheASPTeam in Bellevue, WA seeks an Assistant Controller for a hybrid role, with in-office presence Tuesday and Thursday. This role manages month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls, leading a small team and partnering with other departments to optimize accounting tech.

Candidates should have public accounting or technical accounting background, a BA/BS in accounting or related field, 3+ years of supervisory experience, and ERP experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • ERP or similar technology experience preferred.
  • Pay range: $120K–$145K with 4 weeks PTO.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, payables, receivables, and closing processes.
  • Oversee month-end close and year-end audit activities.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform technical accounting research and documentation.
  • Implement and enforce internal controls and policy adherence.
  • Assist with annual budget process and variance analysis.
  • Partner with other departments to optimize accounting technology and processes.
  • Manage vendor relationships and expense reporting.

Job description

We are seeking an Assistant Controller for an hybrid role in Bellevue, WA with a fantastic organization and team! This role is only in office on Tuesdays and Thursday. It requires a strong people manager and management of month-end close. Public accounting or technical accounting experience is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage core accounting operations, including general ledger, financial reporting, payables, inventory, fixed assets, lease accounting, receivables, cash applications, and multiple system integrations
  • Oversee closing processes, the distribution of financial, management reports, and the year-end audit process
  • Prepare and issue monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and lead the preparation for the annual financial statement audit
  • Perform technical accounting research and prepare documentation
  • Interpret, implement, and enforce company and finance related policies
  • Assist with the annual budget process, ongoing variance analysis, and ad hoc financial and management reporting
  • Partner with other departments resources to maintain, optimize and enhance accounting technology
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships, P-card system, and related expense reporting
  • Implement and administer internal controls, including identifying opportunities to streamline or enhance processes
  • Contributes to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, positive contributions, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals
  • Implement and oversee continuous process improvements for the financial close process, ERP platform, and related business applications
  • Ensure a high level of service to internal and external customers
  • Manage assigned employees by recruiting, developing, and counseling; planning monitoring, appraising and reviewing employee contributions; maintaining compensation, resolving problems and implementing change
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet management
  • Ability to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing, including effective use of listening skills
  • Capable of mentoring, motivating and guiding others toward both individual and organization goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in business, accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in supervisory or leadership role
  • Experience in public accounting preferred
  • ERP or similar technology experience preferred
  • Pay range: $120 to $145K
