Job summary

Taylor Morrison is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller and finance team in Florida. The role involves overseeing the division’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, A/P and A/R, budgeting, and headcount reporting.

You will prepare and review monthly close processes, assist with forecasts, and contribute to cash flow analyses. A strong Excel background and experience with Newstar/Soloman are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting required.
  • Strong Excel knowledge.
  • Experience with Newstar and Soloman preferred.
  • Past accounting experience in homebuilding or related industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review division financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and headcount.
  • Manage division reporting and month-end close processes with oversight from Controller and VP Finance.
  • Prepare supporting information for weekly cash flow forecasts and close coordination.
  • Audit and prepare Weekly Unit, Weekly Sales Margin, and intercompany reconciliations.

Job Description Summary

As an Assistant Controller working for Taylor Morrison you will be responsible for working alongside the Controller and review division’s financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, headcount and more.

Job Details
  • Responsible for division reporting/month-end close process (weekly, month-end, quarterly) with review by Controller and VP Finance
  • Responsible for periodic operational reports such as volume risk, backlog margin report, etc.
  • Responsible for assistance with the annual budget/monthly/quarterly forecast process (includes maintenance of subdivision files, CCP, etc.)
  • Responsible for preparation of supporting information for weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Prepare division sales commissions and payroll calculations
  • Prepare monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and audit Weekly Unit report
  • Prepare, audit and upload Weekly Sales Margin report
  • Responsible for accuracy/maintenance of entries from the fixed asset reporting system
  • Assist closing coordinator with pre-audit HUD’s for closings and closing homes via JE templates
  • Preparation and analyze OH variance reports
  • Assist AP admin with review of property tax payments
  • Preparation of intercompany account reconciliations
  • Sign-off and posting of cash receipt journal entries
  • Assist AP Admin with maintaining all coding schedules
  • Responsible for system financial maintenance of homebuilding software (Newstar)
  • Responsible for miscellaneous management reporting

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • Strong knowledge of Excel
  • Newstar and Soloman experience strongly preferred
  • Past experience in an accounting position with homebuilder a plus
  • Credit report in good standing

Essential Functions

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Taylor Morrison experience and/or successful completion of training program may override required education and/or experience requirement.
