Job summary

Parkhill in Texas seeks an Assistant Construction Manager to support planning, coordination, and oversight from preconstruction through closeout, working with project teams and clients.

Responsibilities include site observations, document reviews, RFIs, submittals, schedules, cost tracking, and meetings; assist with QA/QC and project closeout activities. 2+ years in construction required, CCM pursued preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a construction-related role.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and regulations.
  • Working towards CCM is required.
  • Familiarity with reading construction drawings and schedules.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore/Bluebeam/Primavera preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Valid US driver’s license to visit project sites.

Overview

The Assistant Construction Manager supports the planning, coordination, and oversight of construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout. Working alongside Construction Managers, Project Managers, contractors, design teams, clients, and other project stakeholders, this role assists with field coordination, construction administration, schedule and cost monitoring, quality management, and issue resolution. The Assistant Construction Manager may support traditional construction management, Owner’s Representative, and program management assignments depending on project needs and assumes increasing responsibility as experience and proficiency develop. This is a full-time position paid bi-weekly on an hourly basis.

Responsibilities
  • Supports Construction Managers and Project Managers in the planning, coordination, and oversight of construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout
  • Performs regular site observations and monitors construction progress, quality, and general conformance with project requirements; documents observations and communicates concerns to appropriate project team members
  • Reviews drawings, specifications, schedules, contracts, and other project documents to understand project requirements, support field coordination, and identify potential conflicts or issues
  • Coordinates and tracks RFIs, submittals, change requests, payment applications, and other construction administration activities through review and resolution
  • Monitors project schedules, milestones, sequencing, and look-ahead activities; identifies potential delays or schedule conflicts and assists with evaluating mitigation and recovery strategies
  • Supports project cost management by tracking budgets, commitments, changes, and potential cost impacts; assists with review of contractor proposals, change requests, and payment applications
  • Participates in site meetings, OAC meetings, coordination meetings, and project reviews; prepares meeting documentation and tracks action items, decisions, and commitments through resolution
  • Coordinates communication among contractors, design teams, consultants, clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other project stakeholders as appropriate to the assignment
  • Assists with identifying and tracking project risks, issues, and emerging conditions that may affect cost, schedule, quality, safety, or project objectives
  • Maintains accurate and timely project records, including field reports, photographs, meeting minutes, logs, correspondence, progress documentation, and other required construction records
  • Supports quality management activities, including field observations, deficiency tracking, punch lists, and coordination of corrective work
  • Supports testing, commissioning, substantial completion, final completion, record documentation, warranties, training, turnover, and other project closeout activities
  • Assists with preparation of project status reports, dashboards, presentations, and other internal or client-facing reporting
  • Develops working knowledge of Parkhill's construction management, program management, project controls, and QA/QC processes and applies established standards and procedures
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a construction-related role
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and regulations
  • Working towards a CCM is required
  • Familiarity with reading construction drawings and schedules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; experience with project management platforms like Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera is preferred
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Valid US driver’s license to visit project sites, clients, and other Parkhill offices
