JOB SUMMARY

The ASSISTANT CONSTRUCTION MANAGER will be responsible for supporting our construction projects from start to finish. This role will work closely with the Construction/Program Managers to oversee project timelines, budgets, project reporting, subcontractors, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role requires travel to active job sites and is ideal for candidates seeking hands‑on field experience and long‑term growth in commercial construction. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to grow in the construction industry.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • ASSIST: Program and Construction Managers in planning, scheduling, and coordinating all phases of construction activities to ensure projects remain on track and aligned with established timelines.
  • SCHEDULE: Travel to active project sites to support field operations, inspections, meetings, and project oversight.
  • MONITOR: Project progress by tracking milestones, identifying potential risks, and providing regular status updates to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • ATTEND: Weekly project calls and prepare clear, accurate meeting minutes documenting action items, decisions, and follow-up responsibilities.
  • COORDINATE: With subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services, including tracking long‑lead items and managing procurement of owner‑furnished materials.
  • TRACK: Change order workflow by documenting requests, monitoring approvals, and maintaining accurate records of scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
  • SCHEDULE: Preconstruction activities such as pre‑bid walks, site assessments, and related planning efforts to support successful project execution.
  • REVIEW: Blueprints, specifications, and project plans to verify compliance with client building standards and project requirements.
  • SUPPORT: Issue resolution efforts during construction by identifying problems early, coordinating corrective actions, and minimizing schedule delays.
  • MAINTAIN: Accurate and up‑to‑date project documentation, reports, logs, and records in accordance with company and client requirements.
  • ASSIST: With budget tracking and cost management by monitoring expenditures, reviewing invoices, and supporting financial reporting.
  • COMPILE: Complete project closeout documentation, including warranties, manuals, as‑built drawings, and final reports.
  • PREPARE: And distribute daily and weekly project status reports to all stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of progress, risks, and upcoming activities.
  • PERFORMS OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED :

General office equipment (laptop, scanner, cell phone, etc)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building practices
  • Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Knowledge of project scheduling principles and sequencing of work
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and site safety practices
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and inspection requirements
  • Knowledge of cost estimating, budgeting, and change order processes
  • Knowledge of local building codes, permitting, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating construction activities
  • Ability to monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and help resolve construction issues in the field
  • Ability to maintain accurate project documentation and reports
  • Ability to enforce safety policies and promote a safe work environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Skilled in the use of construction management software and project tracking tools
  • Skilled in reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
  • Skilled in site inspections and quality assurance procedures
  • Skilled in coordinating subcontractors and field personnel
  • Skilled in scheduling, tracking progress, and updating timelines
  • Skilled in problem‑solving and field coordination
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and professional communication
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum of one to five years of experience in construction or project management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field

Previous experience with reputable General Contractor

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass a criminal background check

Must have a valid driver’s license

Must have and maintain a good driving record

WORK CONDITIONS:

Must be able to travel to perform job site review

Must be able to physically navigate active construction zones

Works in a heated and cooled office environment

Works outside in all types of weather and may be exposed to extreme heat and cold, rain, snow, sun etc.

This is a safety sensitive position due to driving requirements or job responsibilities whole include safety‑sensitive tasks that require performing duties fraught with risk of injury to others where even a momentary lapse of attention may have grave and disastrous consequences.
