Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced logistics professional in Louisiana to manage material handling, inventory control, and tool tracking on a large-scale construction site. You will coordinate unloading, staff scheduling, and deliveries to keep field teams productive.

Responsibilities include inspecting materials, tracking rentals, tagging items, and ensuring timely returns. A safety mindset and OSHA 30 certification are valuable assets in this fast-paced role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of experience in large scale logistical management.
  • OSHA 30 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of jobsite operations.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing and HVAC material, equipment, and tools.
  • Ability and experience driving a forklift.
  • Knowledge of supply operations, sequence and flow.
  • High level and consistent organizational skills.
  • Ability to oversee large crew, plan their work and verify tasks are being completed within the allotted time.
  • Maintained lay down yard.
  • Understanding and knowledge of materials (cast Iron, PVC, Copper, Pex and equipment).
  • Timely order pulling and deliveries.
  • Works with sense of urgency.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.

Responsibilities

  • Unload equipment and materials safely with the Logistics team.
  • Ensure correct staff is available based on delivery schedule.
  • Distribute materials and prefabrication to keep field teams productive.
  • Inspect materials/equipment for damage or discrepancies with delivery tickets.
  • Inspect and track tools; coordinate returns to Fabrication Shop.
  • Track rental tools with Admin and schedule returns.
  • Fill fuel cans and fuel jobsite equipment; deliver water coolers.
  • Receive material deliveries; check accuracy and backorders; notify logistics.
  • Confirm material status with Superintendent; address overdue items.
  • Inspect and verify materials against orders and tickets; report discrepancies.
  • Tag outgoing materials with area, name, and date; organize storage areas.
  • Maintain stock of consumables; schedule bottle refills.
  • Return unused materials to vendors when appropriate; prepare inventory reports.
  • Inspect tools before they go out; obtain vendor confirmations.

Job description


  • Works with the Logistics team to unload equipment and materials from venders and suppliers in a safe manor.

  • Works to ensure the correct staff is available to unload based on the delivery schedule for equipment, pre-fabrication, and materials.

  • Preforms the distribution of materials and prefabrication to keep the field teams productivity working.

  • Performs the first step in the quality control with the inspection of materials and equipment to confirm the products match what has been submitted, and products are not damaged.

  • Orders, inspects, and tracks tools. Prepares and schedules tools that are no longer needed to be shipped back to the Fabrication Shop.

  • Works with Admin to track rental tools and return them when no longer needed.

  • Fills fuel cans for job and fuel jobsite equipment.

  • Delivery of water coolers.

  • Cleans water coolers thoroughly and ensures the date is displayed on the outside.

  • Receives material deliveries and checks them for accuracy and tracks back-ordered materials for delivery dates. Checks delivery of material for discrepancies and notify the Logistics Manager and or the superintendent.

  • Confers with Superintendent to determine overdue material and parts and to inform Superintendent of material status including backorder items.

  • Examines materials received, verify materials, and check for discrepancies between the delivery ticket and the Tool and Material order form. Check for damaged or unmarked parts.

  • Compares work ticket specifications to materials used at work stations to verify appropriate assignment.

  • Tags all material going out to the field with Area, Name and Date.

  • Tags all material not being used as assigned to a Storage Area at the yard to be delivered at a later date and notify the foreman.

  • Checks all consumable materials daily and keeps adequate stock.

  • Keeps up with empty oxygen and acetylene bottles and schedules bottle refills with the Superintendent or Project Manager.

  • Keeps all storage areas clean and materials organized.

  • Returns materials not being used to vendor when appropriate.

  • Prepares and submits an inventory report of items to be returned to the Project Manager first.

  • Checks and verifies rented equipment with the vendor, obtain a confirmation number.

  • Inspects tools before they go out to the jobsite.

  • Gets tool report from the Project Manager, set monthly date and hold inventory monthly after normal hours of operation.

  • Checks for out of order tools and extension cords.

  • Brings back to the yard any damaged tools or extension cords.

  • Submits report of inventory and findings to project management.
