Job summary

The Dallas Symphony Association seeks an Assistant Conductor to support the Music Director and conduct selected concerts across the season, including youth and community programs. You will assist with programming, rehearsal planning, and guest artist coordination, while presenting pre-concert talks.

This role emphasizes artistic leadership, collaboration with media, and public engagement to enhance concert experiences and community relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting orchestras and rehearsals.
• Ability to plan concert programs across multiple series.
• Strong communication and collaboration with artists and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Music Director and staff with musical administration and program development.
• Attend rehearsals and be prepared to conduct as substitute when needed.
• Conduct assigned concerts across DSA programs and venues.
• Host and present pre-concert talks for Classical Concerts.
• Coordinate music selections for rehearsals, performances and tours with guest conductors.
• Represent the orchestra at public events and deliver speeches.
