Job summary

The Sterling community in Chesapeake, VA seeks an Assistant Community Manager to support the Regional Property Manager and oversee on-site staff. You will assist leasing, coordinate maintenance, and help ensure resident satisfaction while maintaining compliance with Fair Housing laws.

Responsibilities include showing units, processing applications, payroll support, resident communications, and reporting to the Community Manager.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a customer service environment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license (if operating a vehicle).

Responsibilities

  • Abides by Fair Housing Laws.
  • Performs all tasks relating to leasing the property, such as showing, preparing lease packets, running credit reports, inspections after move-outs and before move-ins.
  • Actively participates in the leasing of the property while striving for quality residency.
  • Responds to telephone requests from residents and the public.
  • Handles payroll administrational aligning with Payroll Department.
  • Tracks traffic through the property.
  • Coordinates maintenance requests with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Aggressively work on resident retention through positive resident relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervises: All On-Site Personnel in Community Manager's Absence

SUMMARYOFPOSITION:

Performs a variety of administrative duties related to the overall management of the property and assumes supervisory authority when the Community Manager is away from the property. This position is considered an essential function to the operation of the community therefore, consistent attendance is an essential function of this position, as it directly impacts the employee’s ability to perform their duties effectively and ensures proper workflow and communication within the team.

PRIMARYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
  • AbidesbyFairHousingLaws.
  • Performsalltasksrelatingtoleasingtheproperty,suchas:
    • Showing the property to prospective residents, preparing lease packets, run credit reports, inspects properties after “move-outs” and prior to “move-ins.”
  • Activelyparticipatesintheleasingofthepropertywhilestrivingforqualityresidency.
  • Respondstotelephonerequestsfromresidentsandthepublic.
  • HandlespayrolladministrationaligningwithPayrollDepartment.
  • Trackstrafficthroughtheproperty
  • CoordinatesmaintenancerequestswiththeMaintenanceSupervisor
  • Aggressivelyworkonresidentretentionthroughpositiveresidentrelationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITIONREQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERREDSKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Advancedcollegecoursesinmanagement,publicrelations,oraccounting.
  • Atleasttwoyearsofpropertymanagementexperienceinacustomerserviceenvironment.
PHYSICALACTIVITIES:
  • PhysicalActivitiesuptoandincluding,typing,walking,bending,stooping,reaching,climbingstairs,orstanding for periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

  • Hours worked will coincide with the hours of operation in the community. This position may be required to work on weekends as necessary.
