Assistant Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist

Join Madison Reed as an Assistant Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist at our Hair Color Bar. This role supports Licensed Colorists and the Shift Lead to deliver a seamless guest experience while you learn and prepare for your next career step. If you love beauty and hair color, and enjoy helping guests find their perfect shade, this is the role for you.

The Assistant Colorist is responsible for consultations, hair care product knowledge, shampooing, conditioning, blowouts, and supporting various services. You will learn to connect with guests and team members, maintain a clean environment, and support your team, with the goal of advancing to a Licensed Colorist within 3-9 months.

This position reports to the Manager and can be full or part-time, with availability during peak hours. The starting pay ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, plus commissions and tips, based on experience and location.

Responsibilities

• Assist with services such as shampooing, conditioning, styling, blowouts, treatments, and add-on product applications.
• Support sales goals through retail, memberships, and service upselling.
• Maintain cleanliness, merchandising, and inventory standards.

• Contribute to revenue growth by promoting services and products.
• Participate in training to develop color application skills and theory knowledge.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk for extended periods, perform bending, twisting, and hand manipulations, and occasionally lift up to ten pounds. Communicate regularly with guests during consultations.

Qualifications

• Active cosmetology license in the state of employment.
• Entry-level experience in customer service or retail; salon experience preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfort with point-of-sale systems.
• Fluent in English.
