Job Summary
The Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach assists the head coach in all facets of the program to develop an elite NAIA Women's Lacrosse program that will be competitive and advance the team in the competition, academics, and in the community.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to lead, teach and coach student-athletes in a challenging environment with a strong lacrosse mindset. The assistant coach will have a strong focus on recruiting and coaching instruction as well as building a strong and successful team culture. This position is expected to adhere to the NAIA Coaches Code and the Athletic Department's guiding principles while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists the head coach in developing a successful team to positively represent Columbia College.
- Organizes and manages assigned recruiting efforts and administrative responsibilities.
- Represents the team, department, and college in a positive, professional and ethical manner; responds appropriately to media, marketing, fund‑raising and community service requests as assigned.
- Assists in scouting and recruitment of new players.
- Coordinates logistics for travel, practice schedules, and matches.
- Supports the Head Coach in handling administrative tasks, such as maintaining player records and scheduling.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in sports management, business, science or a closely related field.
- At least one (1) year of successful lacrosse coaching experience, preferably at the college/university level.
- Strong organization, inventory and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include early/late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel.
- Valid SC Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Qualified to operate, willing and able to safely drive a 12 or 15‑passenger van consistent with the College's insurance regulations.
- Passes a background check.
- Capable of lifting awkward or heavy objects as needed.
- Works well with others in a team setting, is willing to take on extra duties, and communicates effectively.
- Provides excellent customer service to recruits, students, staff, faculty, parents, fans, and donors.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general computer technology.
- Strong knowledge of sport specifics, strength training, and game‑day competitions.
- Desire and knowledge to help maintain sports facilities as needed for practice and game day.
- Works and leads by example in a non‑abusive and non‑threatening manner.
- Attends all required conference or national meetings and meets all deadlines.
- Reports any athlete or team issues that are detrimental to the team, department, or college, and reports illegal activities immediately.
- Works within and follows the guidelines of Columbia College and the Department of Athletics at all times.
- Learns and is familiar with all existing processes and works excellently with the Admissions and Financial Aid Departments when recruiting and maintaining student‑athletes.

Physical Demands
Work requires the ability to move and lift 30 to 50 pounds independently and perform strenuous physical labor, and the ability to exert 30 to 50 pounds of force frequently. May be required to use a ladder. Also requires frequent bending, squatting, standing, reaching, climbing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and occasional sitting. May be required to occasionally work in small, hard‑to‑reach spaces. Work is performed both inside a facility and outdoors in all weather conditions. Some hazardous situations may exist based on work to be performed.
Working Conditions
Work environment may risk exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals.
