Job summary

A regional higher education institution in Charleston seeks a Women's Basketball Assistant Coach to assist the Head Coach in instructing athletes and ensuring compliance with NCAA standards. The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and three years of collegiate coaching experience. Responsibilities include developing players, performing recruiting activities, and supporting academic progress. This position involves weekend and evening hours, as well as travel. Job description

Assist the Director of the Women’s Basketball Head Coach in instructing and working with athletes to prepare them for competition. Act as an expert on the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Ensure compliance with NCAA Division I, CAA, and College of Charleston rules and philosophies. Encourage and facilitate physical fitness, safety, and proper use of sport and training equipment.

Bachelor’s Degree and at least three years of collegiate coaching experience (preferably Division I). Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations for women’s basketball.

Additional Comments Regarding Position

Overnight and out-of-state travel required. Weekend and evening hours are required.

Coach and develop an assigned position group, focusing on fundamentals, technique, and position‑specific skills.

Percent of Time: 30%

Evaluation of opponents and development of a game plan for student‑athlete instruction in accordance with position assignments as prescribed by Head Coach.

Percent of Time: 20%

Perform recruiting activities and responsibilities as assigned by Head Coach to meet the objectives of the College and team, including evaluation, contact, and establishing relationships with prospective student‑athletes and coaches.

Percent of Time: 20%

Support, abide, and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the College, athletics department, and women’s basketball program to ensure academic progress of the student‑athlete as directed by Head Coach.

Percent of Time: 15%

Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations areas in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Percent of Time: 10%

Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach.
