Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum experience as determined by the Board of Education.
• Knowledge of track and field, conditioning, injury prevention, and student development.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high conduct standards.
• Background check, TB exam, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.

REPORTS TO:

Head Winter Track Coach / Director of Athletics

JOB SUMMARY:

The assistant coach shall be under the direct supervision of the head coach and will assist in carrying out program duties and responsibilities as assigned. The assistant coach will provide leadership in the development and improvement of the athletic program by fostering student-athletes' knowledge, skills, sportsmanship, and motivation to excel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid New Jersey Instructional Certification or New Jersey Substitute Credential (minimum 30 college credits).
2. Mandatory NJSIAA certifications prior to start of season: Current CPR/AED and Basic First Aid Certification (blended/in-person required) and required NFHS coursework (Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Implicit Bias).
3. Minimum experience as determined by the Board of Education.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of track and field, sports conditioning, injury prevention/management, and student growth and development.
5. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standards of conduct.
6. Required criminal history background check (N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1), medical/TB examination (N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6), and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

• Stipend Range: $5,822 - $8,386 per season (Category 2, Steps 1 4), determined in accordance with the Montville Township Education Association (MTEA) negotiated agreement athletic salary guide.
• Benefits: This is a seasonal, stipend-only position and does not carry health insurance, paid leave, or pension benefits, except as otherwise required by law or specified in the MTEA collective bargaining agreement.
