Job summary

Bethel College is seeking an Assistant Coach for Track and Field - throws to support the overall program in coaching and administrative duties. You will assist in organizing practices and competitions, coordinate with other coaches, monitor athlete progress, and help with travel plans, scheduling, and meeting reporting to ensure smooth operation of the track program.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at high school or club level preferred; college level experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

• Provide constructive feedback and support athletes to develop skills.
• Develop and implement individualized training programs for athletes.
• Communicate effectively with athletes and coaches to ensure a positive team environment.
• Stay current with coaching trends and incorporate new techniques.
• Provide input for student evaluation and sport-related grading.

Assistant Coach: Track and Field - throws

This position will support the overall track and field program in all aspects of the coaching and administrative duties assigned to an assistant coach.

Essential Functions

• Support the Mission, Vision, & Values of Bethel College
• Help identify, evaluate, recruit and retain a roster of eligible student-athletes
• Assist in organizing practices and competitions
• Assist in administrative duties of the programs in regards to budget management, travel management,supervision of study hall and academic reports, coaching, scouting of opponents, recruiting, transportation and other daily operational needs.
• Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to changing work processes, including movingfrom in-person to remote work and back, as necessitated by College policy or as directed by the supervisor
• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of theposition
• Comply with Bethel College policies and procedures
• Help build team culture that promotes Champions of Character goals

Primary Responsibilities

• All coaching staff assume the responsibility of instruction of their respective sport
• Teach and demonstrate techniques, tactics and strategies to help athletes improve and reach their full potential
• Provide constructive feedback and support the athletes to help them develop their skills and improve performance
• Develop and implement individualized training programs for athletes based on their abilities and goals
• Communicate effectively with athletes and other coaches to ensure a positive and supportive team environment
• Stay current with trends and developments in coaching and incorporate new techniques and strategies
• Provide input for student evaluation and grade assigned for sport

Education and/or Experience

• Previous High School or Club equivalent coaching experience (College level preferred)

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid driver's license
