Job summary

Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, Texas seeks an Assistant Track & Field Coach to build a competitive program for middle school and varsity teams. The role entails supporting the Head Coach, planning practices, and guiding student-athletes both on and off the track.

The successful candidate will model professionalism, mentor athletes, and ensure adherence to school and league rules, while collaborating with campus departments and coordinating meet-related activities.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of fundamentals, technical aspects, and strategy for track & field.
• Ability to attract and retain qualified athletes and to facilitate timely progress toward graduation.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn, apply, and adhere to SPC/ISAL/SACAL rules and regulations.
• Ability to interact well with officials, coaches, parents, and the public.
• Ability to work with students of all backgrounds and mentor student-athletes.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments on campus.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours.
• Must currently hold, or be able to obtain, CPR/First Aid certification before completing the hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and administering all aspects of the Track & Field Program as assigned.
• Model and maintain an exemplary student-athlete concept and personal development of student athletes.
• Provide coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach in all areas of the Track & Field program.
• Participate in public relations activities.
• Ensure adherence to SPC/ISAL/SACAL rules and regulations.
• Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, and personal matters while adhering to FERPA guidelines.
• Participate in continuing education programs as assigned.
• Coordinate home and away meet day activities (schedule practices, setup and breakdown of equipment, meet setup).
• Work with Director of Communications to share team accomplishments.
• Assist in special events and meets, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics.
• Athletic Department game day administration as assigned.
• Assist and maintain inventory at the beginning and end of the academic year.
• Assist with all other duties as assigned.

Saint Mary’s Hall is seeking a passionate, energetic Assistant Track & Field Coach who strives to build a highly competitive and challenging program for the SMH student-athletes while supporting the school’s mission. Saint Mary’s Hall is committed to offering rewarding experiences for the students while maintaining high academic standards. An SMH coach is an individual who seeks excellence daily while teaching life skills that will benefit the student-athletes within the program for many years to come. Saint Mary’s Hall offers Track & Field at the Middle School and Varsity levels. Coaches will be assigned based on experience and need.

Responsibilities

• The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for assisting in planning and administering all aspects of the Track & Field Program as assigned.
• Under the direction of the Head Track & Field Coach, the Assistant Track & Field Coach should model and maintain an exemplary studentathlete concept and the personal development of a student athlete who’s on and off the track/field behavior reflects favorably upon the Saint Mary’s Hall community in general and the athletics program.
• Responsible for providing coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach in all areas of the Track &Field program.
• Participates in public relations activities.

• Assist and maintain inventory at the beginning and end of the academic year.
• Assist with all other duties as assigned.
• Level of assignment based on qualifications and need.
