Job summary

Lansing Community College invites applications for the Assistant Softball Coach position. The role reports to the Athletic Director and supports the recruitment, instruction of softball skills, and preparation for practices and competitions.

The incumbent monitors student-athlete academic progress and coordinates program operations including scheduling, travel, equipment, and related team logistics while ensuring MCCAA/NJCAA compliance. Regular on-campus presence is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of softball fundamentals, training methods, player development and game strategy.
• Valid drivers license and ability to meet college requirements for operating a college-owned vehicle, if transportation duties are assigned.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and travel as required by the competition and recruiting schedule.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and select student-athletes for the softball program.
• Instruct softball skills and techniques and prepare for practices and competitions.

The Assistant Softball Coach reports to the Athletic Director and works under the day-to-day direction of the Head Softball Coach in support of the Lansing Community College softball program. This position supports the recruitment and selection of student-athletes, instruction in softball skills and techniques, and preparation for practices and competitions. The Assistant Softball Coach also monitors student-athlete academic progress and coordination of program operations, including maintaining team statistics per MCCAA and NJCAA requirements. The incumbent promotes student-athlete success and represents the College in a professional manner while assisting in the administration of scheduling, travel, equipment and related team logistics. The position is expected to comply with applicable College, MCCAA, and NJCAA rules, policies and procedures and may be required to transport students using a college-owned vehicle as assigned.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.
