Job summary

Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad, CA seeks a Middle School SeaPerch Robotics Assistant Coach to guide students in STEM through hands-on underwater robotics activities on campus. The role runs October through March on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm, plus three Saturday competitions.

You will support the robot design process, supervise a safe workshop, and mentor students in teamwork and leadership, with on-site training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience with robotics, electronics and building projects with on-site training.
• Familiarity with 3D printers, laser cutters or CNC machines is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities, and interest in STEM education.

Responsibilities

• Lead team meetings on campus from Oct through Mar on Wednesdays 3pm-5pm with the MS SeaPerch coach.
• Attend three Saturday competitions (two in March, one in April).
• Support robot design and provide feedback; supervise workshop safety and order.
• Coach students on teamwork and leadership; take on increasing responsibilities.

SeaPerch Robotics Program Pacific Ridge School seeks a Middle School Robotics Assistant Coach. SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). The SeaPerch Program provides students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade with the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with a marine robotics theme.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following)

• With the Middle School SeaPerch Robotics Coach, lead team meetings on campus from October through March on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm
• With the MS Robotics Coach, attend three Saturday competitions (two in March and one in April)
• Support teams in the robot design process and provide feedback
• Supervise and maintain a safe and organized workshop environment
• Coach students on team dynamics and leadership
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership skills, initiative, and the ability to take on increasing responsibilities

Qualifications

• Experience with robotics, electronics, general building experience (on-site training available)
• Experience with digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and/or CNC machines (on-site training available)
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills
• A passion for working with secondary school age children in STEM settings
