Job summary

Wayzata High School seeks an assistant Robotics instructor for the 2026-27 school year to support the head advisor in creating an engaging robotics learning environment. You will help students explore robotics concepts, design, build, and program robots, and foster teamwork and curiosity.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Instruction: Conduct engaging and interactive sessions introducing robotics concepts, demonstrations and hands-on activities.
  • Lab Management: Oversee the robotics lab, ensure proper equipment and safety, maintain organization.
  • Project-Based Learning: Guide students through design-build-program projects for challenges or competitions.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Advise students on interests and career goals, fostering collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Competition Participation: Prepare and train students for robotics competitions, refining designs and strategies.
  • Safety and Ethics: Teach robotics safety, responsible use, and risk mitigation.

Job description

Wayzata High School is in search of an assistant Robotics instructor for the 2026-27 school year. The primary responsibility of the assistant Robotics instructor is to work with the head advisor to create a positive and engaging learning environment where students can explore their interests in robotics, develop problem-solving skills, and gain hands-on experience with designing, building, and programming robots.

Responsibilities
  • Classroom Instruction: Conduct engaging and interactive classroom sessions to introduce students to fundamental concepts in robotics, such as mechanical design, electrical systems, programming languages, and sensors. Provide demonstrations and hands‑on activities to help students understand and apply these concepts effectively.
  • Lab Management: Oversee the robotics lab and ensure it is properly equipped with necessary tools, equipment, and materials. Teach students how to safely handle and use robotics equipment and encourage them to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Project-Based Learning: Facilitate project-based learning experiences where students work individually or in teams to design, build, and program robots for specific challenges or competitions. Provide guidance, feedback, and technical support to help students overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Serve as a mentor and advisor to students, helping them explore their interests in robotics and guiding them in their career aspirations. Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and creativity among students while fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Competition Participation: Prepare students for robotics competitions. Train students to refine their robot designs, optimize performance, and develop effective strategies to succeed in competitive settings.
  • Safety and Ethics: Educate students about the ethical considerations and responsible use of robotics technology. Emphasize the importance of safety protocols and teach students how to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with working with robots.

Stipend range $100 - $9,351. This position is not beneift eligible.
