UNC Robotics Coach
Position Overview
Menahga Public Schools and Sebeka Public Schools are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Robotics Coach to lead and support the schools' robotics program. The Robotics Coach will provide leadership, guidance, instruction, and supervision for students participating in robotics activities and competitions.
The successful candidate will help students develop skills in robotics, engineering, programming, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and innovation while creating a positive and engaging environment that encourages students to explore STEM-related opportunities.
- Plan, organize, and lead robotics practices, meetings, and competition preparation.
- Provide instruction and guidance in robotics, engineering, programming, design, and problem-solving.
- Support students as they design, build, program, test, troubleshoot, and improve robots.
- Help students understand and apply engineering design and iterative problem-solving processes.
- Prepare students and teams for robotics competitions and related events.
- Establish a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
- Encourage students to take ownership of the design, construction, programming, and operation of their robots.
- Teach students appropriate and safe use of tools, equipment, technology, and robotics materials.
- Supervise students during practices, competitions, travel, and other robotics-related activities.
- Maintain appropriate records, schedules, equipment inventories, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate competition schedules, transportation, facilities, equipment, and other program needs with school administration.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, staff, administrators, and competition officials.
- Promote teamwork, creativity, perseverance, accountability, sportsmanship, and professionalism.
- Encourage participation from students with a variety of interests and skill levels.
- Support opportunities for students to explore careers and post-secondary education in STEM-related fields.
- Maintain and properly store robotics equipment, tools, technology, and supplies.
- Assist with fundraising, community outreach, demonstrations, showcases, and other program activities as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with school district policies and applicable competition organization requirements.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, competitions, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or school administration.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with robotics, engineering, programming, STEM education, or a related field.
- Previous experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or working with students.
- Knowledge of robotics design, programming, electronics, mechanical systems, or engineering principles.
- Experience with robotics competitions is preferred but not required.
- Ability to learn and utilize the specific robotics platform and competition requirements used by the program.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and community partners.
- Ability to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Willingness to obtain any required certifications or training.
- Ability to meet all district and applicable extracurricular activity requirements.

Compensation
Compensation will be based on the applicable extracurricular/coaching salary schedule and agreements for Menahga and Sebeka Public Schools.
