Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60+ college credits required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum two years of coaching and/or collegiate playing experience.
• Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to mentor diverse student-athletes.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and travel for practices and games.
• Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.

Responsibilities

Kennedy-King College is seeking an experienced Assistant Coach tohelp lead the Kennedy-King College athletes to victory! TheAssistant Coach position will give you the opportunity to provideleadership in the development and evaluation of the overall teamand individual student-athletes. You will also be able to providedynamic, strategic, and visionary leadership designed to enhancestudent success through focus on an \"Academic-First\" agenda.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Director of Intercollegiate & IntramuralAthletics or to an assigned administrator, the Assistant Coachassists the Head Coach in the activities of an intercollegiatesport by providing instruction, mentorship, and support to studentathletes

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Assists the Head Coach in the instruction, development, andevaluation of student athletes.
  
• Demonstrates sport-specific skills and techniques duringpractices and training sessions.
  
• Evaluates athletes’ performance and provides constructivefeedback to help student athletes improve individual and teamperformance.
  
• Assists with the recruitment of student athletes.
  
• Advises students with respect to athletic performance, personaldevelopment, and academic progress. Ensures that athletes reachtheir academic goals by monitoring class attendance and ensuringthey receive academic support as necessary to remain in goodacademic standing.
  
• Assists with assessment of equipment, uniforms and othernecessary apparel and needs; assists with making team travelarrangements, both in accordance with the Board’s purchasingguidelines.
  
• Assists with training, practices and coaching in league,conference and tournament play.
  
• Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellencestandards.
  
• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or universityOR 60 or more college credits required. Bachelor’s degreepreferably in Physical Education or related fieldpreferred
  
• A minimum of two (2) years of coaching and/orprofessional/collegiate playing experience required.
  
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may beconsidered at the discretion of management.
  
• Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations a plus.
  
• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, including rules,strategies, and techniques
  
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  
• Ability to effectively teach and mentor student athletes fromdiverse backgrounds
  
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required forpractices and games
  
• Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment

OTHER INFROMATION:

Coaches are hired on a season-by-seasonbasis. A reasonable effort is made assure future coachingassignments to those coaches who have had a history of successfulacademic and athletic team performances at City Colleges ofChicago. All coaching assignments are conditioned on sufficientteam membership. Once a season starts, the coach is expected tocomplete the season.

Salary Range: $4,800 - $8,400 stipend per academic year (Fall &Spring seasons).

Offered salary will be determined based on sport and applicant'syears of experience.
