Job description

The Assistant coach is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day functions of the team as directed by the head coach. Must abide by all NCAA and University rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist head coach with team practices and competitions.
• Assist with the planning, organizing, and implementing team practice.
• Assist with team needs assigned by the head coach or other staff members.
• Communicate with Champion Performance team.
• Maintain communication with administration and/or coaching staff relative to athletic development issues.
• Work in coordination with nutrition and sports medicine staff to implement appropriate injury prevention and reconditioning programs as needed.
• Provide instructional expertise and direction in the areas of speed, strength, and conditioning for assigned athletic programs including pre-season, in-season, and post-season workouts.
• Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, and services.
• Maintain a working knowledge of and adherence to NCAA and institutional rules and regulations.
• Provide presentation of support to athletes and parents during on-campus recruiting visits for athletic programs.
• Provide support, oversite, and direction for applied performance initiatives.
• Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
• Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

• Four-year college degree, experience coaching at the Division I level.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate and function effectively within a team setting.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY ABILITIES

• Required to travel to various locations as well as local and campus locations.

• Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
• Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop in order to conduct business.
• Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate. The working environment also includes the facilitation of outdoor events.

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

PAY RANGE

• $150,000-$200,000
• Time Type Full time
• Location Onsite
• Pay Rate Starting pay within this range will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s education, technical coaching qualifications, and sport-specific expertise and experience.
• The position also includes comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
